Buying Process Part 2
So, are you pumped yet? Did you find your perfect agent yet? Maybe not since I haven't heard from you! ;)
#2 Next step is a very important step! Pick a lender and get pre-approved! The lender you choose is a lot like choosing your Agent, you must feel comfortable with them and get references. If you need references you can ask your agent, friends or family. You will be in constant contact with them throughout the whole process. Your lender should be able to get you approved enough for you to know if you qualify and what price range you need to look at in one or two days. You should have a lender you can call directly and/or even go to their office if you need to sit and go over papers. Questions to ask a lender should be; how much am I approved for, what kind of loan can I get (there are lots out there), how much will my down-payment be and what are my options for 100% financing, what kind of sales price should I buy to get the monthly payment I will be comfortable with, how much will my escrow affect my monthly mortgage payment? Those are just a few. Remember there are NO silly questions and you want someone who is patient with you. VERY IMPORTANT BEFORE YOU LOOK FOR HOMES: Find out how much you are willing to pay for a house by getting pre-approved BEFORE even looking. How will you know what to look for if you don't know where you want to be financially? Make that call, if you are hesitant then ask your agent to have the lender call you. But... don't be worried, even if you aren't ready to buy, your lender can put you on a path to do some things to move you closer to home ownership. Listen close to your lender and follow their instructions! Get them the info they need immediately! This is how you can get to the closing table and get those keys!
